ROMNEY ON STAGE
8:00 wow romney is really laying it on thick; a little too much background and god and family, i think, but we’ll see
8:00 more women in business, need world that accepts & supports women
8:00 god i’m laughing so hard
8:00 if anyone falls for this I suggest they shoot themselves posthaste
8:05 ok american success story
8:05 great section in the speech here, with the energy independence and whatnot
8:10 jesus, why so aggressive? Iran, gay marriage, abortion. again, family values
8:10 also “America preserve… military so strong…no nation would ever dare to test it” holy shit
8:10 hello george bush
8:10 also yeah what was that about global climate change*
liked—‘scott’ from npr’s live comments: 5 point plan: 1. Be ambiguous 2. Appeal to patriotism 3. Use the words “women” and “immigrant” 4. Pretend he will be tough on China 5. Bring the family on stage
aside comments: Best Romney speech so far, very well balanced tone-wise &c.. Rubio’s intro helped a lot. speech pretty assertive near the end, though, too gung-ho for any middle-ground viewers. battleground states not going to have fun
What’s sad is that Romney’s original policies weren’t this über-conservative; I think someone on npr also pointed out that you can’t put much merit in someone who’s willing to sacrifice his values, even if it is a lesser evil for a greater good
*appeal to family. demographic is changing, new generations aren’t being fruitful and multiplying for a scientific reason, and which is more important? appeasing the immediate voter who find family the most important or solving problems that affect imminent generations
(also i personally really couldn’t stand the crowd: just listening to them for a few minutes makes me weep for america)
